DLSU and UPD Librarians join Australasian International Conference

Four Filipino librarians from De La Salle University and University of the Philippines Diliman presented their collaborative research papers at the Australasian Information Educators’ Symposium (AEIS) / Research Applications in Information and Library Studies (RAILS) Conference , with the theme, “Creating and Learning Together: Interdisciplinary Teaching and Research” held on 28-30 November 2017 at the University of South Australia (UniSA)– City West Campus, Adelaide, South Australia . [UPCOMING EVENT] Celebrity Bluff Season 2: Library Edition

As part of the IamInfoSMART 2017 campaign of making every Lasallian information literate , the Libraries will hold the Celebrity Bluff Season 2: Library Edition on 28 November 2017 (Wednesday), 2:00-4:00PM at the Exhibit Area of The Learning Commons, 6F Henry Sy, Sr. Hall. Mechanics ·          The DLSU Libraries Bluff (based on the TV game show Celebrity Bluff) is open to all DLSU Libraries’ members of the staff. ·          Teams are from the RS, TS, Archives, and Satellite libraries ·          The host will pick a bluffer for each question. ·          The host will read each question once which is projected in the screen. ·          After reading each question, the library bluffers will either help or trick the contestants by providing answers to the questions. ·          Each team must decide whether library bluffer’s answer is either a fact or a bluff. ·          The bluffers will give a brief explanation of their answers. LORA, The Librarian: Free Training for Public School Librarians

The Libraries, as part of its annual information literacy campaign – IamInfoSMART 2017, will be conducting a free lecture/workshop with LORA, the Librarian with the theme "Gearing Up: Preparing Librarians for Media and Information Literacy (MIL)". This will be held at the Ortigas Seminar Room, The Learning Commons, 14th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall on 27 November 2017, 10:30AM to 12:00NN. This lecture/workshop is open to librarians of public secondary schools in Metro Manila. It aims to assist and aid both school librarians to better facilitate and support MIL instruction in their schools. IamInfoSMART Amazing Race 2017: Registration is Now Open.

As part of the IamInfoSMART campaign of making every Lasallian information literate, the Libraries will hold the  IamInfoSMART Amazing Race  on  24 November 2017 (Friday), 1:00pm  with the start line at the Exhibit Area of The Learning Commons, 6th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. Based on the reality TV series, the contest will lead contestants to different sections of The Learning Commons, where they must perform various tasks in a race against other teams. This activity aims to teach students how to (1) determine the nature and extent of information needed; (2) find and locate the needed information effectively and efficiently; (3) evaluate information sources; and (4) use information ethically and legally.
