Law Library Service Hours – Summer Term, AY 2016-2017

The  Law Library (Rufino Campus, BGC)  will be observing the following service hours during its Summer Term, AY 2016-2017: Dates Service Hours Monday  to  Friday Saturday 27 June - 04 August 2017 Summer Classes 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM 05 - 12 August 2017 (Summer Term Break) 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Its regular hours and services will resume on  Monday, 14 August 2017 . The ICML + EAHIL 2017 Experience

Photo credits: Tiina Heino Two Filipino librarians attended the   12 th   International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML) and the 2017 European Association for Health Information Libraries (EAHIL) Workshop   organized by the Health Research Board, IFLA Health and Biosciences Section and the EAHIL. The theme of the congress is   Diversity in Practice: Integrating, Inspiring & Innovative . As reported by Ms.  Aoife Lawton (International Program Committee Chair), about thirty-three countries participated in this congress which made it more diverse and global.   The congress   was held at Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland from 12-16 June 2017. Live at the Libraries feat LYO, DLS Innersoul

The  Libraries in  ​partnership with the Culture and Arts Office invites all faculty members, students and staff to watch Live at the  Libraries featuring Music performances by Lasallian Youth Orchestra De La Salle Innersoul ​ 22 June   2017,  Thursday ,   5:30PM - 8:00PM Exhibit Area, The Learning Commons 6 th  Floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall Live at the  Libraries   is an initiative to promote appreciation of culture and the arts through live performances, such as musical performance, dance performance, and poetry slams.  It aims to increase awareness and appreciation of the  library  as a ​social and cultural space.

In observance of the  Filipino Youth Day  ( Proclamation No. 75, s. 1948 ), the Libraries proudly presents,  Child Labor  Video Series , a film produced by The East Road Co., Inc., as  Video   Pick  of the  Week . It will run from  19-24 June 2017  at the TV corner, The Learning Commons, 6th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. This documentary film “is a series of  video  that describes child labor and youth employment in the Philippines” (from source video ). Video   Pick  of the  Week  is an initiative to promote media and information literacy in the academic community. It also aims to promote the audiovisual collection of the Instructional Media Services (IMS) of the Libraries. Training on Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)

The  Libraries  is inviting all faculty members​, students and researchers to participate in the free training session on  Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)  on  Thursday, 22 June 2017, 9:00AM to 11:30AM  at  European Documentation Centre, The Learning Commons ,  13F of Henry Sy Sr. Hall​ .    WRDS  is a business intelligence, data analytics and financial research platform providing researchers access to over 250 terabytes of data across multiple disciplines including Accounting, Banking, Economics, ESG, Finance, Healthcare, Insurance, Marketing and Statistics. Interested participants are requested to kindly fill out this  Registration Form .  Registration ends at  5:00PM  on  Wednesday, 21 June 2017 . Registered participants are kindly requested to bring their laptop/mobile device to facilitate online searching of WRDS, as may be required by the trainor. Let's Not Waste Our Time: Start Recycling, Do Upcycling

The  Libraries  invites the academic community to visit the  exhibit  entitled, " Let 's Not   Waste   Our   Time :  Start   Recycling ,  Do   Upcycling " at the  Exhibit  Area, The Learning Commons, ​6 th  floor, ​Henry Sy Sr. Hall. ​​The  exhibit  will open on  07 June 2017   and will run until   30 June 2017 ,  7:00AM to 8:00PM . The exhibition raises awareness on the impact of recycling  and  upcycling . It features the  Libraries ’ collections of guidebooks, handbooks, manuals and other reference materials on how to handle industrial  waste .  Samples of eco-friendly, upcycled products made of recycled materials will also be on display.

In ​line with the No Impact Experiment Exhibit, the  Libraries  proudly presents,  Basura Dapat ay Pakinabangan , a documentary ​produced by Presidential Task Force on Waste Management, Recycling Movement of the Philippines, as ​​ Video   Pick   of theWeek . It will run from ​ 5-10 June 2017  at the TV corner, The Learning Commons, 6th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall​.​ This film discusses proper waste disposal and recycling processes, such that plastic, glass and paper can be sorted, bottles can be reused to save energy, and organic waste can be turned into beneficial compost​ (from source video).
