ISS Remarks of Circumstance re: Donation to DLSU Taft Libraries

On 21 January 2019, Ingrid Sala Santamaria donated a collection of books, CDs and DVDs to the Libraries. In line with this, she gave her Remarks of Circumstance focusing on the purpose of life. On 21 January 2019, Ingrid Sala Santamaria donated a collection of books, CDs and DVDs to the Libraries. In line with this, she gave her Remarks of Circumstance focusing on the purpose of life. She recalled how she been organizing and collating these materials in the spirit of documenting how she lived her life. (A copy of the Invitation nestled on the book “My Four Seasons”) Born in Cebu City, Philippines, Ingrid Sala Santamaria received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Battig Piano School in Cebu under her mother, Pilar Blanco Sala. Further studies followed at the Juilliard School in New York. She received a master's degree from Sta. Isabel College in Manila. De La Salle University conferred on her the Doctor of Music degree in Music Education, honoris causa, in 2006. As chair of the Salvador and Pilar Sala Foundation, Inc. DLSU Librarians Speak at the 1st National MIL Forum

Promoting media and information literacy education with its opportunities and challenges were the main focus of the 1 st National MIL Forum held last 18-19 January 2019 at the Quezon City Sports Club, E. Rodriguez, Quezon City. The activity was organized by the Philippine MIL Core Group, an ad hoc committee of MIL educators, advocates, and practitioners in the Philippines and the Philippines Communication Society. This national forum aims: (1) to discuss the state of media and information literacy education in the country; (2) to describe the role of media and libraries in promoting media and information literacy education; (3) to develop an outline of topics for revised media and information literacy curriculum guide in SHS; and (4) to identify strategies in teaching media and information literacy. Two DLSU Librarians were invited to be the discussants of the 1st ever National MIL Forum. Mr. John Louie Zabala talked about the impressions on media and information literacy education
