Trial Access to EIKON

The  trial  access to  EIKON  is now available until  30  November 2016 .   EIKON   is a financial analysis tool which provides easy access to trusted news, data and analytics all filtered by relevance to the users' exact needs and displayed in a highly visual way that is easy to grasp and act on. It provides the broadest and deepest data sets across asset classes, sectors and geography. Access to  EIKON  is limited to on-campus network only. Please visit the Information Reference at the 7 th  floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, to access the tool.     Once  EIKON  has been tried, kindly click and accomplish this  Online Feedback Form . Your feedback/recommendations/comme nts will greatly help in evaluating whether or not to officially subscribe to this database.

The  trial  access to  EBSCO’s One Belt, One Road Reference Source  is now available until   31 December 2016 .   ​EBSCO’s One   Belt, One Road Reference Source   is a collection of full text journals and publications to support the understanding and study of the   One Belt One Road   mega region, including parts of Asia, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe. It provides access to scholarly journals, newspapers and newswires, conference proceedings and hard to find publications covering essential information for studying the people, culture and economies of the 65 countries in the region. Upcoming Event: TeachMeet with LORA, the Librarian

As part of IamInfoSMART 2016, the Libraries will be conducting a free lecture/workshop with  LORA, the Librarian   with the theme  " Back to Square One: Understanding Media and Information Literacy (MIL)"   to be held at the Ortigas Room, The Learning Commons, 13th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall on 10 November 2016, 9:00AM to 11:30AM.  This lecture/workshop is open to librarians of public secondary schools in Imus, Cavite. It aims to i ntroduce the basics of media and information literacy skills (based on UNESCO's initiative) and propose approaches to the evaluation of these skills such as pre and post tests. The scores in these tests will be used to gauge their background knowledge in MIL. LORA, the Librarian  is one of the community extension activities of the Libraries, which aims to p rovide training on the different aspects of library work, and guide librarians from public secondary schools, community libraries, etc. in sourcing for free library resources.

Upcoming Event: Family Feud (DLSU Librarian’s Edition)

As part of the  IamInfoSMART 2016,  the Libraries will hold a contest for DLSU librarians based on the TV game show Family Feud on 09 November 2016, 2:00PM – 4:00PM at the Exhibit Area, The Learning Commons, 6/F Henry Sy Sr. Hall. This contest aims to gauge the DLSU librarians’ knowledge and familiarity to the collection, services, and facilities as well as to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among librarians through competitions. Mechanics DLSU librarians will be divided into four groups, with five members each: Team Archives, Technical Services, Reader’s Services, and Satellite Libraries.  A member of each team faces the other in a face off challenge. As part of the IamInfoSMART 2016, the Libraries will conducting the WeAreInfoSMART Poster Making Contest with the theme " The Role of Information Literacy in the UN 2030 Agenda "  on 08 November 2016, 2:00PM – 5:00PM at the Exhibit Area, The Learning Commons, 6/F Henry Sy Sr. Hall. This contest is open to high school students from public secondary schools. The  IamInfoSMART  Amazing Race  is back for year 4! As part of the  IamInfoSMART  campaign of making every Lasallian information literate, the Libraries will hold the  IamInfoSMART  Amazing Race (Senior High School Students Edition)  on  11 November 2015 (Friday), 1:30pm - 3:30pm  with the start line at the Exhibit Area of The Learning Commons,  6th floor  Henry Sy Sr. Hall. Based on the reality TV series, the contest will lead contestants to different sections of The Learning Commons, where they must perform various tasks in a race against other teams. This activity aims to teach students how to (1) determine the nature and extent of information needed; (2) find and locate the needed information effectively and efficiently; (3) evaluate information sources; and (4) use information ethically and legally. Mechanics: The contest is open to all bona-fide DLSU senior high school Grade 11 students. Each SHS section should form a team of three as class representatives.  D

Upcoming Event: IamInfoSMART Symposium on Information Literacy: Strategies and Challenges

The DLSU Libraries will be holding its annual information literacy campaign called IamInfoSMART with the theme "InfoSMART Plus” on 08-12 November 2016, 9:00AM-5:00PM at the Exhibit Area, The Learning Commons, 6F Henry Sy, Sr. Hall. ​One of the activities is a free symposium entitled “ Information Literacy: Strategies and Challenges " to be held at the 12 th Floor Animo Labs, The Learning Commons on 10 November 2016 (Thursday) , 1:00PM – 5:00PM . This symposium aims to bring together librarians, LIS teachers, researchers, media specialists, educators and students to exchange knowledge and experience and discuss current practices, developments and challenges in information literacy, both in practice and theory. Upcoming Event: RIA’s Research Help Desk

As part of the  IamInfoSMART 2016  campaign of making every Lasallian information literate, the Libraries will hold a special session of the  Face-to-Face with RIA  ( R oving  I nformation  A ssistant) service called  RIA’s Research Help Desk  on  09 November (Wednesday), 9:00am-5:00pm  and  12 November 2016 (Saturday), 9:00am – 12:00pm  at the 6 th  floor Exhibit Area of The Learning Commons, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. Similar to the concept of “book-a-librarian”,  Face-to-Face with RIA  is available for a 30 to 60-minute, one-on-one instruction on topics such as formulation of search strategies, subject database searching, evaluating sources of information, referencing, citation management tools, and Turnitin. Upcoming Event: IamInfoSMART 2016

​ Now on its fourth year, the Libraries will be running its Information Literacy (IL) campaign called  IamInfoSMART  with the theme,  "​InfoSMART Plus” , on  08-12 November 201​6  at The Learning Commons. This activity is in line with the celebration of the Library and Information Services (LIS) month this November. SMART  refers to the ability to:  S eek for the right information;  M anage retrieved information effectively;  A ssess information critically;  R efer information sources correctly; and  T reat and apply information ethically. IamInfoSMART 201​6  is a week-long fair of exhibitions, learning sessions and interactive games, which aims at honing the IL skills of students and raising awareness on the importance of IL in their pursuit for academic and research excellence.
