Human Library (Session 4): Prejudice Against Politicians

The fourth human library session in partnership with DLSU - Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance was held on January 21, 2016 at the Animo Labs, The Learning Commons. It focused on political aspirants, current politicians and celebrity-politicians. Mr. Antonio C. Pedro, Jr., Vice Chair of the Political Science Department made the opening remarks. Almost 100 students and faculty members attended the session to listen and interact to the following human books: THE POLITICIAN, THE ATHLETE, THE NEWSCASTER Arnold “Ali” Atienza earned his BS in Physics degree from the De La Salle University and his master’s degree in Government Management from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. He first gained fame as the only gold medalist in the 1994 Asian Taekwondo Championships at the age of 21. Ali is also a former anchor of IBC Express Balita from 2004 to 2007. Upcoming Event: The Green Spine 2016 Forum: Access Made Easier

The Libraries will be holding The Green Spine 2016 Forum with the theme " Access Made Easier: Developing Collections in 4G Environment " on 20 January 2016 (Wednesday), 1:30 PM at the European Documentation Centre, Learning Commons, 13th floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. This forum aims to (1) present the collection building efforts of the Libraries in today's 4G environment; (2) recognize the various quantitative techniques and  use them appropriately in collection assessment; (3) understand the perception and use of Web resources among library patrons; and, (4) promote the Libraries' services and programs. Librarians, library administrators, faculty and students of Library and Information Science (LIS), and library volunteers are invited to participate in this forum. Upcoming Event: Minute to Win it!: The Green Spine Edition

As part of  The Green Spine 2016,  the Libraries will hold  Minute to Win it! : The Green Spine Edition  on  ​ 19 - 21 January 2016  at the ​ Corazon C. Aquino Democratic Space , ​Ground Floor, ​Henry Sy, Sr. Hall.  Based on the popular TV game show, contestants will have to complete a challenge in one minute to win. This activity aims to assess the users' general knowledge about the Libraries' collections and services through exciting time pressure games. This contest is open to all bona-fide DLSU faculty and all students of DLSU Manila, MEC, and STC campuses.   Mechanics: Each contestant  will draw one challenge from a bowl for him/her to accomplish. Contestants who complete the challenge within 60 seconds or less will win a prize. Interested participants may approach the Libraries' booth at the Green Spine Book Fair. Upcoming Event: bookFace Photo Contest: The Green Spine Edition

As part of the Green Spine Book Fair 2016 , the Libraries will hold the bookFace Photo Contest: The Green Spine Edition on Wednesday, 20 January 2016, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM . This activity aims to showcase the DLSU students’ and faculty members’ creativity through the use of books as artistic objects, foster the love of reading and promote the library’s print collection and social media accounts. Rules: The contest is open to all bona-fide DLSU faculty and all students of DLSU Manila, MEC, and STC campuses. The contest will be held on 20 January 2016 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Individual and group entries will be accepted. Each individual/group is only allowed to submit one (1) entry. Interested participants may pre-register online not later than 15 January 2016 (Friday).
