DLSU librarians elected as officers of PAARL
The De La Salle University (DLSU) Learning
Commons is proud to have two of its librarians, Ms. Marian S. Ramos-Eclevia (Associate Librarian, Information
Reference Section) and Mr.
Jorge Erwin A. Rada (Librarian,
Periodicals Section), to have been elected as Board members and officers of
Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL). They
were inducted Vice-President and Board of Director of the Association,
respectively. The induction of
elected officers coincided with
the 40th General Assembly of PAARL which was held last 25 January 2013, at the
Technological Institute of the Philippines, Aurora Blvd., Quezon City.
PAARL is an association of librarians from different schools that
supports scholarly researches and/or formal education on the collegiate level
and above. The objective of the association is to encourage and promote the
collection, organization and dissemination of information on research and
academic library work. It also aims to develop the usefulness and efficiency of
the library profession and enhances the professional well-being of its members.
The association is willing to cooperate with other organizations having the
same objectives.
Members of the Association nationwide are
given the right to elect the officers annually. The candidates are
nominated by the electoral board through ballot system. The nominees must
be an active PAARL member.
Ms. Eclevia being the Vice President will
also chair the Conference Committee. She joined the Association last year as
one of the Directors of the Board. Before joining the Association, she has been
a speaker in various seminars and conferences of PAARL.
Mr. Rada was the former Library Director
of Olivarez College in ParaƱaque. He has been with DLSU for two years. He is
active in serving various professional associations. The Board of
Directors is the principal force of the association to the realization of its opportunities
for service and the fulfillment of its obligations to its members, and to the
library and information services profession.
