Lunch 'N Learn Session 3 2018 YEAR OF THE EARTH DOG: What is your Qi?

As a learning organization, the DLSU Libraries is committed to continually enhance not only the skills of its patrons but also to support community engagement and culture awareness. This year, we commemorate the Year of the Earth Dog, with the celebration of Chinese New Year on February 21-23, 2018. In the observation of the Year of the Earth Dog, The Libraries in partnership with the Office of Personnel Management, conducted the 3rd session of Lunch ‘N Learn Program last February 28, 2018 at The Learning Commons. The session’s theme was 2018 YEAR OF THE EARTH DOG: What is your Qi? Ms. Yang Wenxia a.k.a. Ada Yan, a faculty member of Confucius Institute, Ateneo de Manila University, and currently, a part time faculty member of International Studies Department of De La Salle University was invited to talk about the importance of Qi. ​ ​The Libraries, in partnership with ENGLICOM, cordially invites the academic community to its celebration of the Chinese New Year with the theme “Chinese New Year 2018: Celebrating Chinese Culture in the Year of the Dog” to be held on 21-23 February 2018 at the Exhibit Area, The Learning Commons, 6/F, Henry Sy Sr. Hall . This event aims to promote the culture and tradition of the Chinese by honoring its influence in Filipino heritage. It also endeavours to showcase the Chinese Corner at the DLSU Libraries through fun and enriching learning sessions and activities that will help engage students, faculty, and other members of the community to participate in the CNY celebration. HL12 @ Rufino Campus, BGC

The 12 th session of the DLSU Libraries’ Human Library (HL) program was held in the DLSU Rufino Campus, BGC on January 25, 2018.  The program was brought all the way from the Manila Campus to Bonifacio Global City in order to let law students (1) feel and understand the situations of people that are recipients of prejudice due to their appearance, culture, economic status, etc.; (2) strengthen their neutral views on people and situations by lessening their prejudices against certain people; and, (3) improve their sense of judgement through listening deeply to prejudiced people. Although the HL has already run for twelve (12) sessions, this was the first time it was brought to the Rufino Campus. In order to capture the audience, an exhibit was set up which lasted for 1 week, catchy posters in various strategic places were posted in the campus, as well as spread using social media, word-of-mouth.
