Lasallian Librarians Attended ALAM 2016

This seminar-workshop aims to help libraries, archives and museums
(LAMs) recognize their roles in nation building by making the most to harmonize
the use of technology and innovative systems in preserving and propagating the
nation’s cultural identity. It was formally opened by a keynote address from Professor
Brendan Luyt of Nanyang Technological University with the theme, “Returning to
the Fundamentals in Libraries, Archives and Museums.”
One of the sessions focused on the Philippine experience of preserving collections
and cultural heritage wherein resource speakers discussed the history, mandate
and functions of The National Library, The National Museum, and The National
Archives. Other interesting topics were mobile things in LAMs, developing
management systems for special collections, setting-up a special collection, digitization
practices of the Filipinas Heritage Library, and the role of LAMs in writing
history of the Philippines.
