DLSU Libraries Unveils AnimoSearch

Last September 1, 2020, the DLSU Libraries celebrated another milestone and hosted a virtual event to launch AnimoSearch, its new discovery tool, via Zoom. This event was attended by DLSU administrators, faculty and staff led by Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC, President and Ms. Kai Shan Fernandez, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Services. Representatives from Ex Libris Asia Pacific led by Mr. Osher Gilinsky and Ms. Rona Arnedo as well as the librarians from DLSU’s partner institutions also participated in this online event

The Libraries selected Ex Libris Alma, a next-generation library services platform which features a discovery component – Primo® VE, to better support the university community’s teaching and learning needs. Alma offers a unified workflows designed to increase the efficiency of the library processes and has robust analytics that will support logical, data-driven decision-making, particularly for collection management. Primo, on the other hand, will help ensure the optimal discovery and use of information resources.

In her message, Ms. Christine Abrigo, Director of the Libraries, remarked: “We needed a system that will not only manage our growing mix of physical and digital resources and library technology tools, but more importantly, a system that will streamline our library workflows, maximize discovery and use of our information resources, and support our faculty in providing relevant and authoritative materials for teaching and learning.”

AnimoSearch is powered by Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo VE, a one-stop integrated search tool that allows users to discover and access information resources regardless of type and format - anywhere and anytime. It has an advanced user interface that optimizes discovery and delivery, improves visibility of resources, and facilitates serendipitous discovery via virtual browsing. With its Single-Sign-On (SSO) capabilities, users no longer need to create a separate MyLibrary account. The system will authenticate users via My La Salle (MLS) log-in.

AnimoSearch will also serve the collective brand for the cloud-based library services platform, discovery, and course resource list solutions of the Libraries.
