The Launching of AC Youth Collaboration Mural Project

The American Corner (AC) in Manila at De La Salle University launched the AC Youth Collaboration Mural Project last February 03, 2020. The mural is a symbolic depiction of the shared history, culture, friendship and alliance between the Philippines and America. The project highlights the US-Philippines relationship as Friends, Partners, & Allies through visual arts while involving the civil society. It caters mostly to students and young artists in building collaborative and safe spaces where communities can engage and learn from one another.

This creative work is done in partnership with Benilde Industrial Design through Prof. Myrthon Magno, one of AC's makerspace program participants. Together with his talented student visual artists: Arianne Lois Comia, Andrea Nicole Osana, Margarita Viray, Ramon Christopher Ramos, and Therese Michelle Paman, they all worked together to bring to life this mural masterpiece.

The event was attended by the art student volunteers along with their mentors. DLSU President, Br. Raymundo Suplido, FSC and U.S. Embassy Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, Nina Lewis graced the celebration. For the last 20 years, American Corner Manila - De La Salle University Libraries has remained an inclusive program and resource space for the public. It offers access to information about the U.S., cultural and educational exchange opportunities, English Language resources, Education USA advising, and a wide range of innovative programs among many others. We embrace this kind of partnership for future alliance in our continued effort for uplifting skills and development.
