DLSU Libraries staff goes to Bataan
This year's Annual Planning Workshop and Team-building of the DLSU Libraries was held last April 19 and 20, 2013 at the White Corals Beach Resort in Morong, Bataan.
Organized and headed by the newly hired librarians, namely, R. Del Mundo, P. Molina and L. Narvaez, the group composed of 82 personnel gathered in front of the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall and started the 3-hour ride going to the venue leaving at exactly 7:30 o’clock in the morning.
While on the bus, the organizers facilitated fun games, namely: Bring Me, Name that Tune, and Charades. The group were divided into 3 teams (Green, White, and Yellow) and everyone actively participated. After hours of fun games, the group sang along with the bus’ on-board videoke until the destination was reached.
Upon arriving, welcome drinks were served together with the breakfast meal. The group checked-in to their respective rooms and after a few minutes of rest, the team-building activities began. A set of games to test and enhance trust, camaraderie, and cooperation, resourcefulness and creativity were facilitated. For the first part of the activity, which is a series or relays, the White Team ranked first, The Green Team second, and The Yellow Team third.
After dinner, the team-building activity continued. Competition between groups became fierce due to high scores at stake, which will determine who will be on the 1st place. The Yellow Team almost got the 1st place, however, the White Team managed to win the last game – a hula-hoop relay – that made them the overall winner. The Yellow Team came next followed by The Green Team on the last place.
The night’s activity was even made more festive by the dance and song numbers from The Learning Commons Group, particularly, the TLC Dance Crew and No Direction.
The next day, most of the participants enjoyed the scene of the sun rising by the sea, some strolled around, while some chose to swim by the beach, some on fresh water swimming pools, and some on both.
During the bus ride on the way home, everyone seems to be tired. No more activities and sing-alongs were done, instead 2 movies were played using the on-board entertainment system. The participants left the resort at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon and arrived back at DLSU at 5:00 o’clock P.M. bringing home with them another memory of joyful experience with colleagues that will surely bring about closeness, camaraderie, and teamwork that can lead to synergy for the betterment of DLSU Libraries.
