Kung Hei Fat Choi (gōng xǐ fā cái) from the Libraries

Since its formal opening on 12 September 2013, the Chinese Corner at the Libraries has been offering materials in various subjects, such as Chinese Language Teaching (CLT), Chinese customs, tradition, arts, history, and literature. These resources were generously donated by China Hanban in Beijing. Hanban also known as Confucius Institute Headquarters is a public institution affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education.

In celebration of Chinese New Year 2016, the Libraries set-up an exhibit featuring arts and culture books to further promote the Corner's visibility in the campus. The exhibit highlighted a beautiful fan made by Chan Lim which illustrates nature as its theme. The revered family patriarch, Chan Lim, focuses on Western art specializing in oil and watercolor. His artwork is characterized by a delicate fusion of Western and Eastern techniques on various media. For more information, please visit http://www.chanlim.com/

As an auspicious Chinese New Year symbol, oranges and chocolate gold coins were given to students who visited the exhibit for good luck and fortune.
