Human Library 2

The Libraries is pleased to invite the community to the second session of the Human Library on 18 November 2014 (Tuesday), 10:00am to 12:00nn at The Learning Commons, 12th floor, Henry Sy, Sr. Hall.

The human library concept originally started in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Human Library is composed of human books that a "reader"/user can interact with. The human books selected are people who are subjected to stereotyping and prejudices. They have volunteered to be public representatives of their respective groups so as to share to others their personal stories beyond the stereotypes and prejudices. As part of the Libraries' aim to cultivate an image of sensible and sensitive community of Lasallians towards social issues, this activity is an alternative way of learning, which may promote dialogue, reduce prejudice and encourage understanding of people from different walks of life.

The first ever human library event in the country was successfully held at the DLSU last 14 August 2014. This second session carries a set of human books on the blind, pregnant teen, atheist, politician, geek, policeman, among others.

Interested participants may pre-register through email at library@dlsu.edu.ph (indicating Human Library 2 in the subject of the email) not later than 07 November 2014 (Friday).
